Gordon: My girlfriend just canceled on me for tonight. It’s the third time in two weeks.
James: What’s going on?
Gordon: I don’t know, but I’m going to have to bring it up with her. I can’t take it anymore.
James: Well... since you’re free tonight, do you want to go for a drink?

Gordon: 彼女が今夜の予定をドタキャンしてきたんだ。この2週間で3回目だよ。
James: どうしちゃったんだ？
Gordon: 知らないけど、彼女にひとこと言わなきゃな。もう我慢できないよ。
James: まぁ・・・今夜はフリーなんだから、飲みにでも行く？
会話に出てきたポイント
- Not again. またか。
- この表現は、悪い状況が続いて、いらいらさせられたり、不信感をもったりすることを説明するときに使います。
- 例）
- Jane: What’s the matter?
Billy: I just got another parking fine.
Jane: Not again! That’s the third time this month.
Jane: どうしたの？
Billy: また駐車禁止の罰金取られちゃったよ。
Jane: またなの！今月に入ってもう3度目よ。
- to cancel on (someone) （ ）との予定をキャンセルする
- ビジネスやプライベートで、誰かと会う約束をキャンセルする、という意味です。
- 例）
- “My schedule was packed today, but a client just canceled on me, so I can meet you this afternoon if you like.”
「今日はとても忙しいんだけど、お客さんからキャンセルが入ったからお昼だったら会えるよ」
- to bring (something) up with (someone)
to bring up (something) with (someone) （ ）に（ ）のことを話す - 特定のトピックや事項を持ち出すということです。
- 例）
- Penny: How were your drinks with Mark? Did you bring up the money he owes you?
Alex: No, it didn’t seem like the right time.
Penny: Markと飲みに行ってどうだった？貸してるお金のことは話したの？
Alex:いや、そんな雰囲気じゃなかったんだよね。
- I can’t take it anymore.
I can’t take (annoyance) anymore. もう我慢できない。 - これは、ある事柄について、もうこれ以上我慢できないということを知らせる表現です。
ここしばらくずっと、煩わしい、もしくは難しい状況に対応していたけれど、もうこれ以上続けられない、ということです。 - 例）
- John and Paul are in a club.
John: I think I’m going to go. I can’t take this music anymore.
Paul: Yeah, it’s pretty bad, isn’t it?
JohnとPaulはクラブにいます。
John: もう行くよ。この音楽には耐えられない。
Paul: うん、これはひどいよね。
